They say that goals win games and it proved to be the case this morning as our u16 footballers won the Mid region championship shield against Passage.

It took a last minute rocket from Joe Cooney to snatch a victory that looked unlikely as we trailed by 2 points with time up. 

We did have the better of the opening exchanges and goals from Pierce O'Connell, Sean O'Sullivan, Eoin Daly and a brilliant point from Darragh Thompson had us ahead 3-2 to 1-6 at half time. 

Passage took control of the game and crept into the lead but another goal from Pierce put us up again. It was tit for tat in the last quarter and they led with time up only for Joe to sneak it for us.

It was a great team effort and everyone played their part.

Captain Jack Buckley collected the trophy from mid secretary Niall Murphy.
