Aghabullogue proved too strong for Kilmichael in the first round of the U21 Hurling Championship on Friday 2nd September in Cloughduv.
recorded the first score of the game for Aghabullogue with a great point from play. John Corkery quickly followed with another great score from play and with Ger Hogan on form, he was in the right place at the right time to score Aghabullogue's first goal of the night.
Kilmichael responded with two points but Mark O'Flynn pushed Aghabullogue further ahead with two points from free's. Mark Long landed a rasper of a shot in the back of the Kilmichael
net following a determined run down the centre.
Mark O'Flynn followed this with a cracker of a goal
from a placed ball. Kilmichael did manage a further three points but John Corkery,
John Buckley and Paudie Twomey each added a point for Aghabullogue, which gave Aghabullogue a comfortable lead at half time on a scoreline of 3-07 to 0-05.
Kilmichael recorded the first two points of the second half but John Corkery responded with a point from play for Aghabullogue. Aghabullogue then pushed further ahead with points from Paudie Twomey, Ger Hogan, John Buckley, Mark O'Flynn(free), and John Corkery. Kilmichael did manage to add a further 6 points to their tally but it was Aghabullogue who ran out well deserved winners on a final score of 3-18 to 0-13.
