02/10/2011 Aghabullogue 2-12 Ballinora 1-06
Aghabullogue were deservedly crowned U16 Hurling Champions, following an impressive win over Ballinora in Pairc Ui Rinn on Sunday, 2nd October.
Aghabullogue took the lead from the start of the game and never looked back. Ian Barry Murphy recorded the opening two scores for Aghabullogue with two points from free's.
Aghabullogue mid fielder Sean Kelleher quickly followed this with an impressive point from play. Ballinora replied with two points, one from play and one from a free. Aghabullogue added six further points to their tally, with
Sean O'Sullivan scoring two points from free's and Dylan Kelleher, Evan O'Sullivan, Sean Kelleher and Ian Barry Murphy adding a point each from play. Ballinora added one further point to their tally just before half time, leaving the score at half time read 0-09 to 0-03 in favour of Aghabullogue.
Ballinora opened the scoring in the second half with a point from play but Ian Barry Murphy quickly cancelled this out with a great point from play.
Aghabullogue goalkeeper, Jimmy O'Connor made a great save, which denied Ballinora a much needed score. Ballinora did however manage another point from play but with the Aghabullogue boys on top form, they continued to push further ahead. Aghabullogue substitute Oliver Lynch scored a magnificant point for Aghabullogue and this was quickly followed by a great goal from Rylane man Evan O'Sullivan.
Ballinora scored another point from a free but Aghabullogue's corner forward Ian Barry Murphy added another one goal and a point to his tally, giving Aghabullogue a comfortable lead. Ballinora did manage to score a late goal but it was the boys in green and white who were deservedly crowned U16 Hurling County Champions.
It was a very determined and sporting performance by the Aghabullogue boys and much credit must go to all those involved in the team.
