U10 Camogie Blitz hosted by Eire Og. Sat 4th Oct
In the first game of the morning the girls beat Ballinascarthy 2 goals to nil. The second game was against Blackrock and the Aghabullogue girls dominated and won it on a score of 7 goals to no score. The last game of the group was tough encounter with Blarney but Aghabullogue took control in the second half and also controlled the score board, winning by a margin of 6.01.
The team were on a high going into the final and with the backline very tight, not after conceding a score, they were confident in their own ability going into the final facing Killeagh.
Killeagh came out of a tough group after defeating both Eire Og and Bishopstown in very close games and were physically bigger than Aghabullogue. In a tight final scores were hard to come by and after a dogged display the girls led by 1 goal to nil. The second half saw Killeagh come into the game but they failed to pass the Aghabullogue backline who were the driving force behind the team. The girls went on to score an insurance point and there was jubilent scenes after the final whistle.
Megan Mc Carthy captained the team on the day and thanked Eire Og for hosting the blitz, the 3 referees, her trainers, her team mates for all their hardwork and gave three cheers for Killeagh.
The girls were presented with their medals by Cork senior camogie player Catriona Foley who had brought the O Duffy Cup to the blitz.
