The Junior hurlers were very unlucky to suffer defeat to Ballincollig in the second round of the Junior Hurling Championship despite a very determined comeback in the last ten minutes. Ballincollig opened the scoring with a point from play but this was quickly cancelled out by a point from Tim O'Leary. Ballincollig added a further two points before Paudie Twomey pointed for Aghabullogue. Ballincollig then added a goal and a point to their tally before Donal Casey shot a rasper of a shot to the back of the Ballincollig net from a free. Ballincollig got one more point from play in the first half and John Buckley scored two points from frees for Aghabullogue, leaving the half time scoreline as 1-05 to 1-04 in favour of Ballincollig.

Ballincollig started the stronger in the second half and had 1 goal and two points on the scoreboard before Aghabullogue replied with a point from a free from John Buckley. Ballincollig then got what was to be their last score of the game. Aghabullogue then upped the ante and showed their tenacious and determined attitude. Paudie Twomey scored a great point from play, which was quickly followed by another Donal Casey goal from a free. At this stage there was just two points between the sides and despite the best efforts of the Aghabullogue men, they were unlucky not to find target in the dying minutes of the game.
