Aghabullogue recorded an impressive win over near neighbours Dripsey in the second round of the Intermediate Hurling Championship on Saturday, 14th June in Cloughduv. The game was played in the most perfect of conditions and the men in green and white fought tooth and nail for this important victory. From the very start the Aghabullogue men lead with the opening three points coming from Mark O'Flynn, John Corkery and Patrick Finnegan, the first and the latter coming from free's. Dripsey responded with three points however an impressive Dan Twomey goal pushed Aghabullogue a goal ahead. Dripsey again responded with a point from play however with Patrick Finnegan adding a further goal and a point from free's for Aghabullogue, Aghabullogue had a well deserved lead half time on a scoreline of 2-04 to 0-04.

Dripsey opened the scoring in the second half with a point from a free but Greg Murphy and Dan Twomey duely responded for Aghabullogue with a point each from play. Dripsey again added two further points, however then the men in green and white added an impressive five points to their tally, with each of the scores coming from a different man - Patrick Finnegan(free), Mark O'Flynn, John Corkery, Dan Twomey and Sean O'Sullivan. Dripsey did add a further point to their tally but again Aghabullogue displayed great tenacity and determination and some superb scores were recorded. Greg Murphy, Ian Barry Murphy, Patrick Finnegan added a point each and John Corkery landed a bullet of a shot to the back of the Dripsey net. Dripsey did manage to record 2 goals and a point in the latter stages of the game but Aghabullogue ran out well deserved winners in the end on a scoreline of 3-14 to 2-10. Aghabullogue now have to wait for an open draw in July to determine who they will play in the next round of the Championship. Well done to all involved!
