Intermediate Hurling Championship - Aghabullogue V Ballincollig (Third Round) Report Page

08/07/2008  Ballincollig  3-18   Aghabullogue  1-08

Aghabullogue Intermediate Hurlers lost out to Ballincolling in the third round of the Championship on a day when the Aghabullogue men never got going. Ballincollig displayed great determination, physicality and fast hurling while Aghabullogue struggled to match any of these traits. Ballincollig started very strongly and had three points on the scoreboard before Aghabullogue replied with a point from Patrick Finnegan. Ballincollig continued to pile on the pressure and quickly had a goal and a number of points on the scorebaord. Aghabullogue kept in touch with points from Kevin and Patrick Finnegan and a goal from Barry Kiely. The first half ended on a scoreline of 1-09 to 1-03 in favour of Ballincollig.

Patrick Finnegan started the scoring in the second half with a point from a free for Aghabullogue. Ballincollig replied with a number of good scores and despite attempts from the Aghabullogue men to gain control of the game, points from Kevin Finnegan, Patrick Finnegan, Barry Kiely and Tim O'Leary, were not enough to overcome the Ballincollig men. Unfortunately for Aghabullogue, the game ended on a scoreline of 3-18 to 1-08.

Ballincollig advance to the next round where they play Blarney, while Aghabullogue will now have to focus on their third round Intermediate Football clash with Castletownbere on the 20th July.
