Despite a brave and determined effort from the Aghabullogue men, they were unfortunate to lose out to Cill Na Martra in the third round of the Intermediate Football Championship.
Cill Na Martra dominated the opening quarter and had three points before Patrick Finnegan responded with a point from play from Aghabullogue. With further points coming from John Hogan from a free and Patrick Finnegan, the sides were on level terms.
Cill Na Martra finished the opening half the stronger, and a further three points for them saw them leading at half time on a scoreline of 0-06 to 0-03.
The first score of the second half came from a penalty from Patrick Finnegan, as a result of a fowl on John Corkery inside the Cill Na Martre square. Patrick Finnegan slotted the goal to the back of the Cill Na Martra net and gave the men in green and white a three point advantage.
Cill Na Martra responded with a point but this was quickly cancelled out with a great point from Barry Kiely.Aghabullogue were then awarded another penalty when Padraig Murphy was fowled but unfortunately for Aghabullogue, the ball hit the post and then the keeper and went out for a 45 for Aghabullogue.
Padraig Murphy added a point to Aghabullogues tally but Cill Na Martra upped their game and recorded another 5 points on their scoreline. John Hogan did add a further two points for Aghabullogue from free's but this was not enough to see Aghabullogue through to the next round.
