08/12/2013 Grenagh 0-12 Aghabullogue 0-05
Aghabullogue were unfortunate to lose out to neighbours and long term rivals Grenagh in the Intermediate Football Championship Final on Sunday, 8th December in Pairc Ui Rinn.
The Aghabullogue men yet again displayed great heart and skill, however it not enough to overcome a strong and physical Grenagh side. At half time, Grenagh were leading by the
narrowest of margins (0-04 to 0-03) with the Aghabullogue first half points coming from a John Kelleher free and two points from John Corkery, including one impresive point from play.
Aghabullogue started the second half with great spirit and determination, however it was Grenagh who again who opened the scoring with two points before Aghabullogue responded with two points from
John Corkery, leaving just one point between the sides. From here on in, Grenagh proved to be the stronger side and recorded an impressive 5 points from play without response from Aghabullogue.
The day was just not meant to be for the men in green in white, however they must be commended for their tremendous spirit, dedication and skill, which they displayed throughout the year. It is an incredible
achievement to reach a County Final and while it is very disappointing for all involved, they should all be very proud of their performances and dedication, which they displayed throughout the 2013
Intermediate Football campaign. Have no doubt, they will be back and let's hope they can take it a step further in 2014!
