Aghabullogue continued on their winning streak in the Intermediate Football Championship campaign with a great victory over Fermoy in Mourneabby on Sunday 14th August.
Despite playing against the wind in the first half, Fermoy were the first to record a score, with a point from play. Patrick Finnegan
quickly followed with two points from free's for Aghabullogue, however Aghabullogue's one point lead was lost when Fermoy landed a rasper of a kick into the Aghabullogue net. The
Aghabullogue men then upped the ante and finished the first half much stronger with John Corkery scoring two points from play and Patrick Finnegan adding another point from a free.
Just before half time, Paul O'Rourke scored a great goal for Aghabullogue ensuring their lead at half time on a scoreline of 1-05 to 1-01.
For the second half, Aghabullogue played against a strong wind and scores were much more difficult to come by. John Corkery recorded Aghabullogue's first score of the second half with a point from a free and with
Paul O'Rourke and Brian Buckley adding one point each from play, Aghabullogue ran out deserved winners on the day on a final scoreline of 1-08 to 1-05. Aghabullogue now meet Castletownbere in the next round of the Intermediate Football Championship competition.
