Intermediate Football Championship (Relegation Final) - V Delaneys Report Page

15/08/2009  Aghabullogue  0-11   Delaneys  1-08

Aghabullouge and Delaneys will have to meet again to determine the 2009 Intermediate Football Relegation Final. Delaneys opened the scoring of the first half with a point, but this was quickly cancelled out when Rob O’Keeffee pointed a free for Aghabullogue. Delaneys added a point, which was quickly followed by a John Kelleher point for Aghabullogue. John Hogan and Patrick Finnegan added points for Aghabullogue but then Delaneys got a goal to leave them one point ahead. John Hogan and Padraig Murphy responded with points from play for Aghabullogue and Delaneys added what was to be their last score of the first half, a point. Aghabullogue finished the half stronger and points from John Hogan(two) and Patrick Finnegan ensured them a lead of 3 points at the break.

The second half was again a close affair and Delaneys once again opened the scoring of the half. Rob O'keeffe again responded with a point from a free. Delaneys then upped the ante and added a further four points to their tally. A great save by Ian O'Sullivan denied Delaneys a goal, which would have made it a lot harder for the Aghabullogue men to comeback. A super 47 yard free kick from John Hogan, sailed between the Delaneys posts and ensured another chance for the Aghabullogue men to retain their Intermediate Football status for another year.
